Roads July 1 when we were up on the Bruce, it was noticed that most people drive down HWY. 6. By going down the middle of the Peninsula you really do not see it. We have put together some alternative maps (map is rough, we will fix it for next year) from Tobermory to Owen Sound.

Georgian Bay and Niagara Escarpment,

Georgian Bay, Niagara Escarpment and Lake Huron ,

Lake Huron
Bruce Peninsula
Beaches MAP (map is rough, we will fix it for next year)
Each town along Georgian Bay has a beach but here is a list of not so famous beaches. Please note the water on this side is much colder. When we say rocks we mean very interesting bolder beaches. Cape Croker (Sand and Rocks), Park near Colpoy Range (rocks), Big Bay (rocks), Small park between Cape Commodore and Pyette Pt. (rocks), Hibou (sand and warmer water), Ainslie Woods (rocks), Christie Beach (sand) between Meaford and Thornbury, Craigleith (sand and warmer water) windsurfing. Please let us know if you find more small beaches.
Georgian Bay
Beaches MAP (map is rough, we will fix it for next year)
Each town along Lake Huron has a beach but here is a list of not so famous beaches. Dorcas Bay (shallow and sandy), Stokes Bay (beach yes but more for fishing), Little Pike Bay, Purgatory Cove, Pike Bay, Howdenvale (small sandy and rocky beaches and can be hard to find with fishing), from Red Bay to Oliphant (shallow, sandy, warm water and a private beach at every corner) windsurfing. Please let us know if you find more small beaches.

DriveDo you only have one day in Owen Sound but want to see the most of the Bruce Peninsula? This is a drive we like to do summer or fall and we live in Owen Sound. Before you get started look at the map and if you see a road going down to the water, take it. (Balmy Beach, Presqu'ille, Wiarton, Red Bay, Oliphant, Sauble Beach North) Starting from Owen Sound go out the west shore road #1, to #26 turn right , stop at Big Bay and look at the boulders and let the kids dive off the peer, then drive to Colpoy's Bay Lookout, then drive up to Bruce's Caves {FREE}1 to 2hrs of exploring, go to Wiarton and turn right on HWY #6, caution this turn can be hard to find, go to Pike Bay Road turn left and go to the end of the road and look at the water and rock, now it is up to you, look around the area then work your way back to Sauble Beach along the shore, stop at Sauble Falls and let the kids play in the falls, if you have got this far and have missed the sand hill then go north on #21 about 5min., the kids will love you, now go to Sauble Beach for the sunset and the games, then a 30min drive and you are back in Owen Sound. Look at the signs along the way because there are more places you can stop. Also see beaches for more ideas. Georgian Bay and Lake Huron
FishingSalmon fishing is very big in both Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. The fish move to the north as the water gets warmer. Mid August they are starting to stage for the river run. This is the best time to take a day or two and go after the 30lb Salmon that you can eat. Lake Huron and Georgian Bay
HikingWould you like to see the full range that the Bruce Trail has to offer? A hike from Inglis falls to Jones Falls will show you farmers fields, old ski trails, waterfalls and fantastic lookouts from cliffs. It will take you most of the day to walk it both ways and watch out for crevasses. See Owen Sound Map #5 and #16 . You can do a reduced version of this hike by starting at the Tourist Information Center and going out from there. See # 4 on the Map. Owen Sound
Hiking and Park Harrison Park See #15 on the Map. Owen Sound
HikingIf you are visiting the Grey-Bruce for the first time a hike from Cyprus Lake to the Grotto is a must. The trail by Georgian Bay is very rugged for older people but kids love it. This is the deepest part of the Bay and is very cold but you could see scuba divers going in and out of the grotto. The shoreline is rock or boulders. You should see these boulders and of course the trail goes across them. If you don't like the cold water Cyprus Lake back at the start has a lovely beach and warm water or you can go across HWY. 6 to a the Lake Huron beach for a sunset.
Mountain
Biking
There are a lot of good Mountain Biking locations in Grey-Bruce but the Massie Hills Ski Trail is by far an under utilized treasure. It is all on Conservation land with the Bruce Trail using half of it. There are 3 large hills on the loops but not dangerous. You can bike out to the Bruce Trail from Harrison Park Owen Sound if you dare(then you might want to take the road part way to Massie Hills because of no biking signs) or park at the main entrance of the ski trail if you can find it. There is a small sign. Ski TrailsOwen Sound
Mountain
Biking
The old train track from Meaford to Collingwood has been turned into a Hiking and Mountain Biking trail. It is quite flat and can get hot in the summer but lots of recreational riders use it. A lot of money was spent to put down a good base and is worth a visit. Meaford
SunsetThe Lake Huron shore line is well known for it's sunsets. Red Bay, I wonder how it got it's name? When you see a bright summer day think sunset and go to one of the many beaches along the lake. Lake Huron
